Note: We received the below email on March 31, 2012, from John's wife, Joyce.
We were very sorry to hear that John had passed away, but we were extremely glad to hear from her, as John had many, many friends at MGHS, that thought of him often.
Hello Ed,
I see there is no update on John Beaman on http://www.youngprops.com/class1960/index.html. Unfortunately he died in late November, 1988 of a burst aorta, during an angiogram.
He was my husband and was a joy to know. He was highly respected in the communications industry and was honored as a Fellow in the Radio Club of America among other honors. The company he worked for was Larsen Electronics, a major manufacturer of mobile antennas in the United States and Canada. He was General Manager and Vice-President of Sales, which involved traveling throughout both counties. Everyone enjoyed his humor, and his ability to bring people together.
He took me to Mountain Grove and showed me around the town back in the early 80's. We married in 1965 after a very short courtship, and had two sons, David and Dennis, and now there are two grandsons, Jonathan Curtis Beaman and Quinn Beaman and one great grandson, Dominic. When I first met him, he was going to college and working, both full time. Like many of his brothers, he went into electronics and worked his way up to Director of Sales at Vega Electronics, in Southern California, before accepting the position at Larsen Electronics here in Vancouver, Washington, across the Columbia from Portland, OR, in 1975.
He spoke highly of his friends at Mountain Grove, Larry Barnes and Joyce Mitchell among them. He still enjoyed photography till the end as well as woodwork. We both loved books. I was lucky to have him in my life.
