After graduation in 1960 I spent the summer working for the City of Mountain Grove hauling trash, patching streets, fixing broken water mains, and painting fire plugs. Great job! (Really; I loved it!) That fall I enrolled at the University of Oklahoma and six years later managed to graduate with a degree in architecture.
I worked as the Assistant University Architect for nearly a year until I was called up by the Army in April 1967. After training in Georgia and Massachusetts, they sent me to Germany for a couple of years to work as an Army Intelligence Officer. Another great job!
After I left active duty I spent a couple of years working for architects in Texas and California, then went back to OU to get a masters degree in business administration
Eventually I became the Managing Associate of an architecture firm in Dallas.
In 1974 I had just opened my own office when I was recruited to become a college professor. Over the next 24 years I taught at Texas Women's University, the University of Kentucky, and El Centro College (downtown Dallas). I loved the academic world, but in 1998 I quit teaching to head up a homebuilding company. That lasted about six years, and since then I've just been practicing architecture and urban planning. My office is in Richardson, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.
Since 1993 I've been married to an Alabama girl, Wanda, whose daughter has given us three wonderful granddaughters-now 13, 12, and 9. When I'm not working I spend most of the time watching "Poppa's Angels" play soccer and softball.
Life's been much better than I deserve.
The 1959 football team's mini-reunion last fall was really great, and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Past Update
I continue to practice architecture and urban land planning in Dallas.
Travelling, reading history, and playing tennis are my main non-work activities.
Nobody enjoys our reunions more than I!

Earlier Update

After 24 years as a professor of Architecture and Interior Design
at various colleges, I "retired" from higher education in 1998 to concentrate on my practice. In 1999 I was named President of Edgewater Homes, Inc. We build luxury custom homes in the
suburbs north of Dallas.
I'm still taking on private commissions in addition to running E-H-I. I've had the good fortune to be able to finish projects in 13 states - from Boston to Los Angeles and Miami to Seattle.
I always enjoy my visits to Mountain Grove and I'm particularly proud of our great class!
