Phyllis (Davidson) Sconce - 2010

Following graduation from MGHS, I attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Mo., a junior college at the time, where I met my husband Wendell Sconce. Upon graduation from SBU, we went to SMS in Springfield, Mo. Wendell received a degree in Music. We moved to Eminence, Mo. where he taught Music for one year and then to Hartville, Mo. where he taught Music for 2+ years and I taught Head Start for a while.
In 1968 we moved to O'Fallon, Mo., where we have been ever since. Wendell taught Music in the High School, and later in Middle School. After moving to O'Fallon I did substitute teaching while our children were young and went back to school on a part time basis. I graduated from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Mo., with a elementary education degree and Wendell and I both earned our Masters degree from Maryville University in St. Louis. He taught Music for 27 years, and I taught 5th grade for 21 years in the Ft. Zumwalt School District in St. Charles County. We also served in three churches over the years here where he was Minister of Music.
We are now enjoying retirement! We like to travel, our longest trip being a 6+ week trip to Alaska in the RV in 2003. We also love spending time with our three children, Wendy, Weldon, and Wes, and their spouses---and especially our eight grandsons and one granddaughter. (We also had one grandson, Joel Lavon, who died of SIDS at 3 months.)
